Skills English Language Arts 7

Avoid the summer slide and keep your reading and writing skills sharp. Summer regression is real, and the only way to fight it is to keep reading and writing. During this workshop we will use short stories to practice comprehension strategies and identifying literary devices. We will stay current on the world around us by reading articles as a way to increase our non- fiction comprehension. Our writing skills will stay sharp when we respond to formal writing prompts based on the articles.

This workshop will focus on the content of Algebra 1 typically covered over the last 4 months of the school year. The content will include an overview of polynomial equations and factoring, graphing quadratic functions, solving quadratic equations, solving square root equations, and rational equations and functions.

Theatre Exploration

For girls entering grades 6-8

This workshop is focused on building self confidence, public speaking skills, empathy, and conflict resolution by participating in a variety of acting related games, scene readings, and script writing exercises. The workshop is designed for all abilities levels and no previous acting experience is required.

Exploring Your Voice!

For girls entering grades 6-12

Virtual Voice Class with Mrs. Gizzi will guide students in grades 6-12 on an exciting vocal journey to build a stronger, clearer voice! Mrs. Gizzi will provide students with the tools to learn and perform songs in both classical and musical theatre styles with emphasis on healthy vocal production, vocal technique, and effective communication of the song text.This class will utilize google meet to allow for effective teacher/student collaboration and immediate feedback. No prior singing experience is necessary. Mrs. Gizzi can’t wait to share her love of all things singing with you!

For girls entering grades 6-12

Participants will explore experimental digital photography techniques. Taking inspiration from today’s leading digital artists and photographers, campers will create an original work of art combining landscape photography, drawing, painting, and digital photomontage techniques. Personal cameras are required.

Philosophy asks and attempts to answer fundamental questions, such as: What can I know? Does God exist? Do I have free will? What is my purpose? We will explore some of these questions and consider answers philosophers have offered. Textbook Required: The Story of Philosophy, by Bryan Magee
